Impeachable Offense. Unshakable Resistance
As Trump drags us toward war with Iran, Georgians organize: listening tours, special elections, and laws going live July 1st

In this Issue:
Bombing Iran is Illegal, Immoral, and Impeachable
Last Saturday, the Trump Administration bombed Iran — without Congressional authorization and legal justification. This wasn’t just reckless. It was a war crime.
Under U.S. and international law, using military force without imminent threat or Congressional approval is illegal. The Constitution vests the power to declare war with Congress, not a rogue president trying to look "tough" for the cameras. As political writer John Stoehr noted in this must-read thread, the media’s failure to acknowledge it as a criminal abuse of power only normalizes authoritarianism.
Let’s be clear: bombing a sovereign nation without cause is immoral, illegal, and impeachable. The lives lost are human beings, families, and communities all sacrificed for the political ambitions of a man who should never have held office.
Here in Georgia, instead of standing up for the Constitution or the rule of law, Governor Kemp and most state Republican leadership are applauding a president who committed an illegal act of war. By refusing to condemn the bombing of Iran, they are complicit in normalizing war crimes. Georgia deserves leaders who uphold the law, not rubber-stamp authoritarianism in exchange for power.
We at The 2030 Project say enough. We reject violence disguised as leadership and always will. Change begins with how we vote, organize, and treat each other.
Spread love instead of hate. Choose justice, not silence.
Sincerely,
The 2030 Project Team

New Laws Taking Effect on July 1st

With the start of the new fiscal year on July 1st, over 100 laws will go into effect in Georgia. Some of the most impactful bills include:
Justice Reform
✅ HB 582 – "Georgia Survivor Justice Act": Survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking will now be better able to request lighter or reduced sentences if they committed crimes under duress. Courts will also consider a wide range of evidence, paving the way for a more trauma-informed approach to justice that recognizes the impact of how abuse shapes behavior.
Education & Child Safety
❌ SB 1 – "Fair and Safe Athletic Opportunities Act": Georgia is furthering its anti-trans agenda with new rules banning transgender students in 6th grade and up from joining sports teams that match their gender identity. Under it, schools must designate teams by sex or receive sanctions for noncompliance. Framed as a push for "fairness" and "safety," this move isolates trans youth and invites greater hostility in already vulnerable school environments.
🟡 HB 340 – "Distraction-Free Education Act": Public schools serving K-8 students must adopt policies that regulate personal device usage during instructional time, including smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, e-book readers, and Bluetooth headphones in secure areas. However, there are exceptions for emergencies and students with disabilities.
Health
✅ SB 72 – "Hope for GA Patients Act": Individuals with severe conditions will have expanded access to experimental treatments not yet fully approved by the FDA.While it expands treatment options, a heavy financial burden may be placed on patients, as insurers aren't required to cover experimental treatments.
Debra Shigley Enters State Senate Special Election

A special election has been called for August 26th to fill the open seat in Georgia’s Senate District 21, following State Senator Brandon Beach’s (R) resignation after he was appointed U.S. Treasurer by Trump. With seven Republican candidates campaigning for the vacancy, Debra Shigley is the only Democrat in the race.
Shigley is a Harvard graduate, Georgia State law alum, attorney, and small business owner living with her husband and five children on a farm in Milton, Georgia. She co-founded Colour, a startup that provides haircare services to women of color, and serves on her synagogue's security committee, ensuring that everyone can worship safely. She’s also an active member of the Fulton County School Governance Council.
Shigley's campaign focuses on making it more affordable to raise a family, investing in public education, closing Georgia’s healthcare coverage gap, and protecting reproductive freedom.
If you or someone you know lives in State Senate District 21, please support Debra Shingley's fight to the Gold Dome on August 26th.
